ok, they were on almost all of your lists. THEY SUCK!!!! Not only do they suck, but they are practically a misfits cover band and they dress like them. Hows that for talkin shite?

We all have our opinions on bands. I personally think they are a great band. Just because they dress in black and have mysterious lyrics doesn't mean they copy the Misfits. In fact, the Misfits mainly wrote about B horror movies. AFI doesn't. They toss in religious beliefs as well as person beliefs on many songs. If they were going to copy the Misfist like you said, they would have started that a long time ago. They've been around since the early 90s and only recently started dressing in black and having the lyrical theme they have today.
Musically they only sound like the Misfits when doing the WHOA WHOA WHOA choruses. If you're going to dislike a band for that, might as well dismiss over half the punk rock ever created because it's become quite a popular these thanks to bands like the Misfits. Don't get me wrong, I'd take the Misfits over AFI any day of the week and I'm sure AFI would agree with you on that one. Just my two cents. If you're not an AFI fan, I'd urge you to really sit and listen to their new CD "The Art of Drowning". It really is a good CD even if you think they are poseurs. |

Yeah, they've been around since the early 90's and out of nowhere they start dressing "spooky" and writing "dark" lyrics, and whatayaknow... They're famous now! Can you call that a gimmick? Sellout? maybe... It is just my opinion. And I have seen them live, thats why I have this opinion. A lot of punk bands do have sing a long whooaa's and what not but AFI takes there @#%$ straigt from the Misfits. Didnt they start the whole scary thing around the same time too? Oh, and since when do you have to be in a band to have an opinion?

First off, Alice Cooper started the whole 'scary thing' way back when. Then I'd say the misfits jocked his style.
And you call AFI sellouts? I have seen frickin misfits on pro wrestlin on TV! Thats the only band I've ever heard of doin anything like that. |

also... any band that would actually want to sound like or look like the Misfits is even worse than The Misfits. What's so cool about writing about horror stuff anyway, if you're gonna copy some morbid @#%$, take your cues from Slayer, their music has actually got balls, maybe three nads per song possibly. Misfits have no balls next to Slayer... and they suck anyway... even if there were no Slayer. So that means that AFI even sucks worse. Whoa whoa whoa AFI sucks, Whoa whoa whoa so do the Misfits, Whoa whoa whoa.
