second question..( this one your gonna have to really jog your memory) a few years back @ the knitting factory in nyc you guys played a song ( a unknown song) that you havent played since..what was that song ? I remember liking it |

Not much going on as far as writing of a record right now. Currently Tim is doing his solo thing and I am knee deep in my own project. Knitting Factory song...I have no idea!!!

On the song S.R.O. on the Over The James recording, after the second chorus and in the outro, there is a kinda weird small guitar sound on about every third beat. Was that done using a crybaby or something? thanks. take it easy. |

Nope, no wah-wah. That part is a four chord riff but what you have to do is hammer ons and pull offs on the chords. Hope that makes sense.

i got that show on tape somewhere, if theres a way to rip that song and put it online ill try..it was the show with hot rod circuit and american nightmare. anyway nice to see some action on the board..last time I was on here I saw some tumbleweeds go across my screen

Sorry Micky, no phone. I think your ears are ringing from too many shows! It's probably overtones or a natural chorus from multiple guitar tracks.
The Casbah is a great club. The whole west coast tour went well, better than I anticipated. |

Joe- Are you working on an album/EP of your solo stuff? I like the tracks you have up on you myspace page and would be interested to hear more. Have you heard anything on the progress of the AVAIL documentary? I'm gitty with anticipation for that to come out. Other than that, I'm glad to hear from you, and I hope the family is doing well. Yes, I am still in the process of pulling together all of the material I have written in the last year. I am hoping to have some more posted by this weekend (if all goes well). You can find it at Myspace.com/JoeBanksRVA.
I do not know the current status of the documentary. I spoke with the guy Dave the other day and I know they are still interviewing people. How much they have completed is unknown to me. Joe |

Can you give a little more detail on what went on the night you did the show from when "This November" that is up here was recorded? Was that you and Tim doing an acoustic set of Avails stuff before a full Avail set? Will we ever get to here the rest of the acoustic set? And would you guys entertain the idea of a full night of your solo set, Tim's and then an Avail set down at home perhaps? Just sayin. I'd walk to Richmond from NY for that. |

I know this is "Ask Joe Banks" not "Ask Seth" but, From what I've heard from Tim and people at the Lucero message board, is that it was a surprise Avail acoustic set opening for Lucero last May. I emailed Tim and asked him if he could possibly obtain a copy (cause I'd give my left nut to hear that set). I don't think he ever got his hands on it, but I did hear it was going to be part of the upcoming Avail documentary (the whole set). I almost sh!t a brick when I heard this show actually happened. I would still give my left nut to get my hands on a copy. Hopefully Joe has more accurate info and maybe a copy.

Read poppyseth's post. That is pretty accurate as far as the set goes. I have never heard the acoustic set myself. All I have ever heard is what's posted on the site.
A show with Avail and Avail members solo @#%$? I wouldn't hold your breath on that one! |

Hey Buc. Red Roses was deleted by accident and I never put it back up. I am currently working with a drummer and another guitar player arranging and recording about ten songs that I've written in the last few years. The plan right now is to get the songs worked out. If I like the finished result, I will probably put a band together and see what happens.
